Tree House Study Centre

Sustainable Buildings

This award winning tree house development has been constructed in the heart of the New Forest National Park on behalf of the Countryside Education Trust. The project is an exemplary one with extensive use of sustainable materials integrated perfectly within the sensitive forest environment.

The development is the very first of its kind in the UK and comprises two tree house classrooms, ground based facilities buildings, canopy walkways, a rope-bridge, solar-powered lighting, biomass energy and a water catchment system.

Youngsters taking part in activities organised by the Countryside Education Trust move from one classroom to the other using a walkway 5m above the ground. More than 10,000 children a year use the complex.

Blue Forest has successfully delivered a living, learning structure, inspiring thousands of visitors to explore what a sustainable lifestyle means. The development has been recognised by the LABC Building Excellence awards as the Best Sustainable Development in the South East and by the Daily Mail International Property awards as the Best Public Services Development in the UK.
